2006  
Lan NguyenLan Nguyen of the Information Engineering Laboratory won a special commendation for a distinguished doctoral dissertation from the Australasian Computing Research and Education Association for a PhD thesis undertaken within a university or research institution in Australia or New Zealand for his thesis "Cryptographic Privacy Enhancing Technologies".

Sankalp KhannaSankalp Khanna, a PhD Scholarship student at the e-Health Research Centre (a joint venture of the CSIRO ICT Centre and Queensland Government), was announced as the Winner of the "Outstanding Achievement by an International Student" category in the prestigious Queensland Government "Celebrating International Education and Training Industry Showcase 2006" on 7 September 2006.

2005  

Gary MorganThe e-Health Research Centre (a joint venture of the CSIRO ICT Centre and Queensland Government) won the CSIRO Go for Growth Award
Team Leader: Mr Gary Morgan. Team members were: Mr Justin Boyle, Ms Catherine Daly, Dr David Hansen, Mrs Karen Harrap, Ms Jean Jacquet, Dr Mohan Karunanithi, Ms Athanasia Kassolos, Mr Craig Kennedy, Ms Barbara Lee, Dr Anthony Maeder, Mr Colin Murphy, Ms Marilla O’Dwyer, Dr Chaoyi Pang, Dr Birgit Planitz, Mr John Ryan-Brown and Dr Tim Wark.

Dr Claudia SchremmerDr Claudia Schremmer and Dr Silvia Pfeiffer were awarded Best Industry/Short paper presentation at the 11th International Multimedia Modeling Conference (MMM2005) in Melbourne.

Dr Silvia PfeifferDr Silvia Pfeiffer was Highly Commended for her pioneering research in web-based technologies and for building a strong track record of commercial engagement with the media industry at the NSW Pearcey Award 2005 in Sydney.

Dr David HawkingDr David Hawking was awarded the inaugural Chris Wallace Award for Research Contribution from the Computing Research and Education Association for research excellence undertaken within a university or research institution in Australia or New Zealand.

Dr Mark CameronDr Kerry Taylor and Dr Mark Cameron and the ABS's Tim Austin won a best paper award at the IEEE conference on e-Technology, e-Commerce and e-Services in the Business Services Networks workshop.

Dr Alex ZelinskyDr Alex Zelinsky received a 2005 Clunies Ross Award for his work which pioneered the development of computer-vision based human-machine interactions.

2004

Dr Trevor BirdDr Trevor Bird and team won the 2004 Industry Innovators Award of the Society of Satellite Professionals International for the MultiBeam antenna. The award recognises technology developed by the public sector. Dr Bird has also been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation.

David HansenThe e-Health Research Centre (a joint venture of the CSIRO ICT Centre and Queensland Government) was a finalist in the Australian Information Industry Association iAwards in the Research and Development category for Heath Data Integration.

Dr David HawkingDr David Hawking and the Panoptic team won an Australian Information Industry Association iAward in the Innovation category for the development and application of the P@NOPTIC enterprise search engine.

Ageless Aerospace VehicleDr Don Price and the Ageless Aerospace Vehicles Team were awarded the AJB Technologies Award for Most Innovative Technology as part of the ICT Industry trade show, CeBIT 2004, Australia technology awards. The Ageless Aerospace Vehicle prototype displayed at CeBIT demonstrated co-operative self-monitoring in a aerospace vehicle fabric.

ViCCUThe Virtual Critical Care Unit (ViCCU™) Team were finalists in the Australian Computer Society Eureka Prize for ICT Innovations in July 2004.

The Virtual Critical Care Unit (ViCCU™) Team won an Australian Information Industry Association iAward in the Implementation category. The team developed the ViCCU™ system for broadband telepresence that allows a medical specialist located in a major centre to be part of a team taking part in a critical care episode at a remote hospital.

Dr Stephen GiugniDr Stephen Giugni was awarded a Vincent Fairfax Fellowship to support and further the development of Australians who factor ethics into their leadership practice.

2003

Dr Trevor BirdDr Trevor Bird was named Professional Engineer of the Year 2003 by Engineers Australia at the Engineering Excellence Awards. Dr Bird's achievements have been preeminent in putting Australia at the forefront of international technology in the field of antennas and microwave systems.

Dr David HawkingDr David Hawking and the P@NOPTIC team won the Network Computing's Annual Well-Connected Award in the category of Business Applications: Enterprise Search Engine for CSIRO's P@NOPTIC Enterprise Search Engine. Dr Hawking was presented with the award at a ceremony in Las Vegas as part of the giant Networld:Interop event. P@NOPTIC also won the Network Computing magazine's Editors' Choice Award for superior indexing, speed and an easy interface.
