Overview

My interests in computer science are primarily in the less computer oriented bits: algorithms and human computer interaction (HCI).  My current research interest is in supporting interaction between people.  In particular, I am interested in designing, creating and evaluating environments both real and virtual that enable, encourage and support human encounters.  Whether the focus is on social or task specific communication, how can the technology and the environment involved influence the likelihood of an exchange occurring and the outcome of the interaction?

The team I'm working with at CSIRO is designing, developing and evaluating a prototype system to enable patients in regional areas to access medical specialists without the need for extensive travel.  More about our project can be found through the links below.
