Overview

I studied physics at the University of Bonn in Germany and graduated 2001 with a Diplom (German Master equivalent). During my diploma thesis I worked in the 'Detectors and Microelectronics Lab' at the Physics Institute on the development on particle detectors for high energy physics experiments (LHC@CERN). Staying in the same research group, I slightly changed themes for my PhD thesis and worked on the development of an orientation and position tracking system. This was designed for augmented and virtual reality applications and motion analysis. At CSIRO I work on localization, activity recognition and monitoring of humans and animals using sensor networks. This is done in a collaboration between the Autonomous Systems Lab, the eHealth Research Centre and the Wireless Technologies Lab.
